Jesus Aaron: Sounds & Lyrics
Man of Constant Sorrow
(Jesus Aaron)
2007-07-07
Traditional (Originally by Dick Burnett circa 1912 or so, rewritten many times, including this one)
Couldn't help but rewrite and put my own little spin on this amazing classic that''s really stood the test of time. The many small changes and couple extra lines I added kind of make it feel like more of a love song (the idea of an old hobo type on a train writing a letter to his long lost love just before he dies was kind of the inspiration for it).
I am a man of constant sorrow
I seen trouble all my days
I bid farewell to Colorado
The place where I was born and raised
And for far too many years I been a hurtin'
No pleasure here, on earth, I find
For in this world I'm bound to ramble
Still babe you never left my mind.
Hey it's a fair thee well my old true lover
I don't expect I 'll see you again
For I'm a bound to ride that northern railroad
And I may die upon that train
And though your friends think I'm but a stranger
A face you'll never see no more
And though death may seem a mighty ocean
And I know not where I'm headed toward
Still, here is one promise to ya baby
I'll meet you on that other shore
Yes, here is one promise to ya baby
I'll meet you on that other shore.
